Computers & Technology

It is the information age that we are currently living in. New technology has been introduced at warp like speeds since the 1970?s and with the introduction of the first computer that speed has become faster the light. Years have gone by where discoveries were made and new technology was invented. Today, our inventions are less obvious and can change the world we live in dramatically. Just looking at 4 decades, the 1970?s, 1980?s, 1990?s and 2000?s, we can see the huge changes in the music industry.

The 1970?s had the LP. This was a large disk played on a record machine using a diamond needle to play as the record moved on a revolving surface. LP collections became a popular pastime. When the 1980?s rolled around, a new technology was introduced ? the cassette tape. This device was much smaller and easier to use. You could also rewind and fast forward to your favorite songs.

In the 1990?s, CD?s were all the rage. This form of listening to music appealed to young and old, because of the disk like shape and the compatibility. You also had the ability to skip tracks, so that choosing a song didn?t take so long. You could also play the songs in different orders and cause a song to repeat. Of course the CD player, like the cassette player, were all major inventions that changed the course of history. In the 2000?s which we are still currently in, the new craze is the iPod. This device is like a portable collection of songs. You do not have to change a disk or skip tracks. It is computerized and allows you to store thousands of songs. With the touch of a button, you can select and play the songs you want.

Computers have been utilized in every corner of life. We use computers in shopping centers, homes, offices, banks, and even outside in the street. Computer and technology can only keep growing, which makes you wonder what our lives will be like in just another decade.
