Excitebike was one of the simplest, but yet most innovative console games of it’s time. Why? It was the first console game to feature an editor for players to create their own tracks and levels. This feature was a huge achievement for a game released so early in the life of the NES. Although the Japanese Famicom disk version allowed for the player to save their designs, the tracks made on the US release would be lost when the game was turned off or reset.
