Transformers is a successful animation series from the year 2002 based on the Transformers franchise and originally conceived as an advertising medium for the franchise. The series was later continued as "Transformers-Eneron" and "Transformers-Cybertron". It was produced by the Japanese animation studio Actas Inc. for US television as a sequel to the series "Transformers-Robots in Disguise". A completely new story was developed, played out in a kind of alternative universe to the original Transformers. The first broadcast took place in the USA from 23rd August, 2002 to 12th December, 2003. The German broadcaster RTL2 only broadcast the series from 1st December, 2003 to 16th December, 2004, but only 20 episodes, namely the first seven and the last 13. In 2008 all 52 episodes of this series appeared in a twin DVD box set on the German DVD label. In these sets there were 17 additional synchronised episodes and 13 episodes from the US version with German subtitles which had never been broadcast on German television.
