Beowulf is a screen adaptation by Graham Baker of the epic heroic poem "Beowulf". This version is characterised by strong fantasy and science fiction which are less pronounced in other adaptations. The generous and relaxed interpretation of the presentation clearly comes to the fore in some scenes in the film. For example, King Hrothgar has an affair with Grendel’s mother resulting in the birth of Grendel himself. In divergence from the poem, Hrothgar is therefore the father of Grendel.
